This series explores how young women experience elections in Kenya. It is set on the backdrop of the 2022 Kenyan General Elections, held on 9th August 2022. The series features voter mobilizers, peace and security actors; and young women leaders working towards the mitigation of election-based sexual gender based violence.
In this episode we speak with Joy Mala, who takes us back to where it all began. We’re talking about the historicities of the Kenyan female voter, before and at independence. How has that history shaped gender equality amongst voters today?
