This series explores how young women experience elections in Kenya. It is set on the backdrop of the 2022 Kenyan General Elections, held on 9th August 2022. The series features voter mobilizers, peace and security actors; and young women leaders working towards the mitigation of election-based sexual gender based violence.Â
In this episode we speak with Rachel Mwikali, exploring the gains for women in Kenyan elections, as voters and as aspiring candidates.
Mwikali is an avid gender and human rights activist. She works for the Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders. She sits on the Youth Advisory Board of the Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi. She is also on the global Board Danish Minister for Development Cooperation.
